JAFFE is a conference entrepreneur and the visionary
who developed the initial concept of this gathering based
on a short, transformative vacation in Ubud in October,
2003. She has been creating and producing conferences
and events for more than 25 years, including numerous
national and international gatherings bringing together
up to 400,000 people. |
WILFORD WELCH
is Chairman of the Cross Cultural Journeys Foundation
and Director of Emerging Global Leaders Fellowship Program.
Formerly a U.S. diplomat in Asia, he has also been a professor
and consultant of international business and publisher
of a world-wide newspaper. |
Core Planning Team
Hanley Brite: Program Operations
Hanley has over 30 years of experience as an executive,
business leader, mentor, and workshop facilitator. Founder and
a principal at Authentic Connections, Inc., Hanley has studied
spirituality, personal growth modalities, and human energy systems
for the past 25 years. His mission is to help organizations
achieve success through principled leadership, strategic action,
authentic communication, and decision-making.
Damani Baker: Director,
Global Healing Film Festival
Damani
Baker was selected by Filmmaker Magazine as one of “25 new faces
in independent film”. His work includes documentary and short
subject narratives with clients that include PBS, CNBC, Danny
Glover's Carrie Productions, and The Center on Addiction and
Substance Abuse. He is also guest professor at Sarah Lawrence
College's Film and New Media Department.
Illana Berger: Conference Coordinator
Illana has trained with healers and medicine people from around the world. She has a MA/Ph.D from CIIS, and has worked closely with teachers of the Zen and Hindu traditions. She teaches at JFK University, has a private practice as a Spiritual Counselor, leads Women's Healing Circles, rites of passage rituals for youth, and uses indigenous healing concepts and practices in her work.
Ryan
Feinstein: Director, Global Youth in Action
Ryan is an International Studies student at University
of California-San Diego, and currently serves as their Civic
Engagement Director as well as the Head Intern at their LEAD
Center (Leadership, Engagement, Activism and Development). He
has lived in Bali for 5 months over the last two years, broadening
his global perspective on the critical issues facing youth around
the world. He has facilitated intergenerational workshops on
the empowerment of youth at numerous conferences including Institute
of Noetic Sciences, UCSD and the Quest for Global Healing I.
Tamarra Kaida: Visual Arts Director
Tamarra
has participated in hundreds of photo exhibitions in her more
than 35 years as an award-winning fine art photographer. She
has curated several bicultural exhibitions and her mixed media
art works are in major museum collections internationally.
She is Professor Emeritus of Fine Art Photography at Arizona
State University, and lives in Ubud, Bali. Tamarra is currently
working on her third book—this one featuring her photos
and writings.
Gary
Malkin: Artistic Director
Gary is a composer, producer and performer dedicated to creating
music and media that inspire the heart and catalyze social change.
A seven-time Emmy award-winner, he is co-author of Graceful
Passages, the first audio/cd release of the Wisdom Project,
offering innovative ways to experience universal wisdom during

Agung Rai: Bali Advisor
Agung Rai is the founder, visionary and owner of the ARMA Museum
and Resort. ARMA (Agung Rai Museum of Art) serves as a living
cultural art museum that showcases historical and contemporary
artists from Bali, Indonesia and other countries, as well as
cultural arts including Balinese dance, music, painting, sculpture
and more. Agung Rai will offer delegates a unique opportunity
to explore sacred historical sites near ARMA during the conference,
and his fascinating stories will be a highlight for everyone
taking his “Golden Hour” walks.
Tjorkorda Gde Raka Sukawati: Bali
Advisor
The
youngest Prince of the Ubud Palace family, Gde is directly involved
with many local community activities in Ubud and is concerned
about preserving Balinese culture for future generations. Very
talented in traditional Balinese architecture and community
leadership, he currently serves as lecturer in marketing at
Udayana University and is Managing Director of Pita Maha Institution.
: Artist-in-Residence
Madé is recognized as a leading artist in Southeast
Asia and is renowned for paintings that encompass a universal
spirit. He has been commissioned to produce the official 2006
Quest for Global Healing II poster, and will participate with
a select group of local Balinese painters who will exhibit at
the ARMA Museum as part of the 2006 conference.
Peter Wrycza, PhD: Bali Liaison/ Facilitator
Peter brings more than 35 years experience working internationally, facilitating deep transformation and the practical unfolding of human consciousness. He has co-authored a number of books, including When Performance Meets Alignment. Originally from England, he founded the Nirarta Centre for Living Awareness in Bali, and he will be offering a post-conference retreat there beginning May 9th.
Ilham 'Issac' Zikri: Indonesian Operations Manager
Issac
is from the Minangkabau culture in Bukittinggi, Sumatra and
has been traveling for the past 3 years studying first-hand
the numerous indigenous cultures of Indonesia. Isaac has attended Andalas University and will soon complete his degree in Political Science.He was recently named "Cultural Ambassador of Sumatra" by the Governor of West Sumatra and has worked on a French documentary project, researched ethnic conflict
in Borneo, and worked with several NGOs. Issac spoke at the
2004 Quest for Global Healing Conference on the panel of “Young
Emerging Global Leaders.”
Brooks
Cole and Suzie Senk: QGH OnlineTechnology Wizards
Brooks
Cole is the founder and CEO of HoloCosmos, and has been an information
architect, media designer and communications specialist for 25
years working with a range of clients including Fortune 100
corporations and non-profit organizations. Suzie Senk is COO
and Strategic Consultant for HoloCosmos, and brings nearly a
decade of marketing expertise. Suzie and Brooks are creating
a new paradigm framework for QGH by using online communications
technologies to help knit the QGH partnering organizations into
a holographic and symbiotic whole. HoloCosmos is also helping
QGH launch an online learning center that will support the initiatives
developed from the conference in 2006.
Ernesto Sanchez: Ceremonial Artist-in-Residence
Ernesto is an award-winning ceremonial artist, performer, teacher, and intuitive healer. He has studied, taught and performed in Europe, Asia, Latin America and the US. For the past 20 years his work has explored the relationship between art, spirituality and community. During the conference he will be exhibiting works from his Journey of 1,000 Moons series, and developing a unique cross-cultural experiential ceremony for delegates and Balinese.
Meghan Pappenheim:
Bali Representative
American businesswoman Meghan Pappenheim has lived in Bali since 1994 with her Balinese husband, Kadek Gunarta. Together they support a wide range of craft producers from around the Indonesian archipelago through their Ubud based boutique Tegun Galeri and furniture design company, Dek's Studio. Through Balispirit.com, Meghan also runs a yoga studio and KAFE, as well as coordinates a network of holistic venues and services around Indonesia. Kadek's deep grounding in the Balinese culture and its spiritual values makes him an ideal guide for those who want a genuine Balinese experience.
